About the role:
We are searching for an experienced and passionate Contracting Area Manager to join our team based in Sydney, NSW. The main focus of the position is to develop and build the Sydney contracting business, manage the contracting activities with a high level of corporate governance and manage relationships with maintenance contractors and internal clients.
This position will be also working as part of the broader NSW/ACT Contracting Team to lead the safe operation of the Plasterboard Contracting/Installation activities, and to achieve the financial and business goals for Knauf.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Ensure safety and quality compliance on all projects
- Attract new business to achieve volume and revenue growth year on year
- Provide outstanding client service and utilise expert communication and negotiation skills to foster client relationships
- Project management, to ensure a high quality of project delivery from quotation to completion
- Submit tenders and quotes for project builder work
- Manage project expenditure, reviewing and processing all subcontractor claims and creditor invoices
- Lead and manage a team of permanent staff and sub-contractors
- Ensure business compliance to relevant governance requirements
To be successful in this position you will need to have the following qualification, experience and attributes:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels (company director, project manager, sub-contractor) coupled with strong written and oral communication skills
- Sales development skills, with the ability to attract and retain new and existing business within the building industry
- Minimum 5 years management experience in the Building and Construction sector (preferably within a contracting environment)
- Possess excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong working knowledge of best practice HS&E systems
- A proven track record of managing a profit centre and exceeding revenue, cost, profit and creating and sustaining growth targets
- The ability to lead and motivate a successful team of employees and contractors at locations across Sydney
- Contract negotiation and management
- Experience in the recruitment, retention and management of contractors
- A good understanding of financial and management reports together with the ability to use them effectively
- Tertiary qualifications would be looked at favourably, but not essential
