About the role:
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Health Safety & Environment Advisor to join our Knauf team. This will be an onsite role which is based in Port Melbourne, VIC.
Reporting to the National Health Safety and Environment Manager, you will be responsible for providing Health Safety & Environment advice to the Plasterboard business within the framework, ensuring adherence with national and regional initiatives.
It is critical to understand the importance of complying with Workplace Health & Safety standards and follow protocol.
Role responsibilities:
- Advise and support the business units in relation to compliance, planning and HSE projects
- Provide advice to local and operational management within the business, promoting systemic alignment with Regional and National initiatives
- Assist and manage compliance with the Safety and Environment Management System and performance indicators
- Provide insights from statistical data for each business and provide advice on remedial activity, provide monthly activity reports to the National Health Safety and Environment Manager
- Facilitate two-way communication, feedback and interaction between employees and managers
- Facilitate and participate in high level incident investigation and risk assessment activities, review and assist in development of Safe Operating Procedures, contributing to Regional and National initiatives
- Contribute to the planning and execution of Safety Management System related projects
Candidate requirements:
- 2 - 3 years prior experience in a similar role
- Experience dealing with environment issues, reporting as well as with unions highly regarded
- Relevant qualification/certificate for the role preferred
- Able to apply Health Safety and Environment Legislation to business activities
- Strong understanding of behavioral safety
- Ability to coach internal and external stakeholders(especially blue collar) on complying with Workplace Health & Safety Standards
- Strong communication, analytical and relationship management skills required
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously
- Exposure to continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing principles would be highly regarded but not essential
