About the Role:
Knauf is seeking a passionate, experienced, and reliable Factory / Plant Manager to be a part of our Senior Management team. The role reports to the Australian Manufacturing Director. This is a great opportunity to be a part of our manufacturing site based in Port Melbourne | VIC.
The responsibilities of this role will include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Plasterboard and Compounds Manufacturing facilities while leading, supporting and developing the Manufacturing teams to ensure plant performance is at a world class standard.
As a member of the Senior Management team, the Plant Manager is a key player in the areas of Safety, Environment, Quality, Production, Business Strategy and Process improvement across the wider business.
Some duties include:
- Manage all aspects of WHS within areas of responsibility, inclusive of developing and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping.
- Develop and implement annual budgets.
- Drive the implementation of continuous improvement principles and programs to achieve a world class operation standard.
- Active implementation of Knauf’s environmental management policy, with particular emphasis on waste reduction and energy management.
- Achievement of the plants budgeted performance efficiencies as a minimum requirement.
- Optimization of process and equipment, including energy and raw materials consumption. Ensure quality targets and vision are met.
- Ensuring both internal (Sales and Supply Chain) and external customers are supplied with quality products of their choice. Improve and develop relations with all customer groups.
Candidate requirements:
- Degree in Engineering Science or a related discipline is highly beneficial
- At least 10 years management experience within a similar role particularly with broad experience in the manufacturing industry (building products advantageous but not necessary)
- Ability to work with a unionized workforce and a track record of fostering collaborative working relationships and building trust
- Excellent experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and root cause analysis
- Strong Project Management skills
- Good knowledge of MS Office required and SAP an advantage
- Ability to mentor, develop and coach team members as well as maintain performance and personal growth while working together as a team
