About the role:
Knauf Gypsum is looking for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to join our maintenance team. Based in Pinkenba QLD & reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support production efficiency. Their role includes coordinating maintenance activities, managing a team of technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the maintenance program, encompassing preventive maintenance, corrective works, and prompt responses to breakdowns
- Issuing and ensuring timely and efficient resolution of work orders to minimize downtime
- Review of completed work orders to ensure quality work and identify additional works required
- Analyzing recurring maintenance issues, identifying trends, and reporting insights to the Engineering Manager
- Responding to call-outs and assisting with breakdowns to maintain uninterrupted daily production operations
- Supervising contractors in alignment with our contractor management plan and ensuring compliance with standards
- Reviewing current work practices to identify and implement areas for improvement
- Preparing comprehensive Daily Shift Reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Leading initiatives in continuous improvement and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to enhance operational reliability
- Driving and actively participating in continuous improvement
- Enforce adherence to workplace safety regulations and maintain compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess the condition of machinery, equipment, and facilities, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Collaborate with other departments, such as production and engineering, to coordinate maintenance activities and prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
- Manage and maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability and timely procurement as needed
Must have:
- Relevant Trade Certificate
- Experience utilising a computerised Maintenance Management System, ideally SAP
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a similar position in mechanical and electrical maintenance
- Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Quality and continuous improvement focused
- Demonstrated high level of attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to think quickly, clearly and logically whilst meeting deadlines
- Contractor Management Experience
- Availability for weekends and be on call for afterhours call outs
- Ability to Drive Safety in the workplace Accurate Hazard identification & reporting
- Previous experience within a production environment is desirable
- Takes personal pride and ownership of the results and act with the highest integrity
