Product Development Officer
This role supports the Quality Manager to ensure that manufactured products adhere to site quality standards, as well as the ability to lead projects.

Knauf Australia is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Product Development Officer to join our Manufacturing team based in Port Melbourne, VIC. This role will support the Quality Manager to ensure that manufactured products adhere to site quality standards, as well as the ability to lead projects in the areas of Product Development and Standards Compliance.
This position provides a support function to ensure market perception is improved by lowering the frequency of customer’s complaints across the site manufactured products. This will also assist in maintaining document control across the site to ensure the site maintains ISO accreditation, and ensure this documentation is aimed and improving productivity across the site.
Role responsibilities:
- Lead the quality system of the plant as per ISO standard guidelines and Knauf management framework to minimize risk of sending non-conforming product to customer
- Supports implementation & validation of local standards and Knauf Regional & Group standards to ensure compliance
- Proposes and follows quality Improvement plans. Implements visual learnings on quality (i.e. SOPS, OPLs) to ensure standard work in manufacturing processes
- Implement and consolidate documentation control of SOPs as part of the Quality Management system
- Provide visibility on the quality performance of the plant. Identifies the strengths and weaknesses of quality and analyses drifts from target and proposes corrective action
- Deploy the Quality functions in the QA department
- Inputs the associated laboratory quality test results in dedicated software and reporting
- Track competitor performance vs. Knauf products as per local standards
- Assist Quality Manager to ensure Certification is maintained
- Co-ordinate and assist with development of new procedures
- Co-ordinate development of new specifications and the review of existing specifications
Candidate requirements:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in science or engineering discipline
- At least 2 years professional experience
- Mentors, develops & coaches team members for enhanced performance and personal growth
- Has unquestionable integrity, honesty, takes personal pride & ownership of the results & acts with the highest level of integrity
- Broad experience in the manufacturing industry – building products (highly regarded)
- Delivers desired project outcomes in full & on time
- Understands basic lean Manufacturing principles
- Strong project management skills
- SAP & MS Office skills - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project etc
- English at professional proficiency
- Able to work with a unionised workforce
